A wave of sorrow has struck a family in Nepal following the devastating news of their daughter’s death in India. Prisha Sah, a young Nepali student pursuing her education at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, was tragically found deceased in her hostel room on Thursday evening.
Originally from Kabilasi Municipality in Nepal’s Sarlahi district, Prisha had embarked on her academic journey in India just last year, full of hopes and aspirations. Her life was cut short under circumstances that are now the subject of an ongoing investigation. She was discovered in her room on the fourth floor of the ‘Queens Castle-4’ hostel on the KIIT campus.
In the face of this unimaginable loss, Prisha’s grieving parents, Shyam Prasad and Pinky Sah, along with her brother Gaurav, undertook the difficult journey to Odisha on Friday. Their immediate priority is the heart-wrenching task of bringing their daughter’s body back home to Nepal.
The local Indian authorities have secured the scene and initiated an investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding Prisha’s untimely death. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the concerns of the family and the Nepali community, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also stepped in. Diplomatic channels are being utilized to coordinate with Indian counterparts and ensure a thorough and transparent investigation is conducted.
This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by students studying far from home. As the Sah family navigates this profound grief, the hope remains that the investigation will bring clarity and answers, providing some measure of closure during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Prisha Sah.
